Getting to Carlingford and the Cooley Peninsula by Car

From the South
1 Follow signs for M1 towards Belfast.
2 Travel on M1 to the end (approx 50 miles) and take exit off at Junction 18- signposted (R152) N52 Dundalk North & Carlingford
3 Take 4th exit off at next roundabout and travel to next roundabout (over the motorway bridge), take 1st exit for Ravensdale (signposted) and take 2nd exit (signposted) Carlingford & Greenore.
4 Follow signs to your destination - Omeath, Carlingford, Greenore etc.
From the North
1 Head south out of Belfast on the M1 towards Dublin. Once on the motorway you are just an hour away.
2 After about 10 miles, exit at junction 7, left signposted to Dublin & Newry on the A1 
3 Drive towards Newry, follow signs for the The Quays - a shopping centre with a multiplex cinema & Sainsburys beside the Newry Canal.
4 Turn left at the traffic lights taking you along the side of canal, canal is on your left, shopping centre is on your right and mountain straight ahead, you are now driving towards Omeath and Carlingford.
(Alternatively stay on the A1 driving due south and bypass Newry, exit at Junction 18 for Ravensdale, Carlingford and Dundalk, follow directional signs through the 1st roundabout - Ravensdale is the 1st exit and Carlingford/Dundalk is the 2nd exit. Continue to next roundabout and take 1st exit for the R152 Carlingford & Greenore).
