Zoë Conway and John McIntyre's Carlingford Summer Concert Series 2017

Carlingford Heritage Centre at the heart of the medieval town has proved to be a wonderful setting for Zoë and John's concerts. The ambiance of the old church complimenting the acoustic fiddle and guitar performances beautifully.

The recent release of their critically acclaimed album entitled "Go Mairir I Bhfad_Long Life To You" has brought international attention to the duo, and they are increasingly in demand in Ireland and abroad.
Carlingford Summer Concerts 2017 Zoe Conway John McIntyre Summer ConcertsFor this unique album, twelve leading Irish composers were commissioned to each create a piece specifically for Zoë and John, for fiddle and guitar. Liz Carroll, Máirtín O’Connor, Steve Cooney, Frankie Gavin, Andy Irvine, Charlie Lennon, Donal Lunny, Tommy Peoples, Peadar O Riada, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, Niall Vallely and Bill Whelan were all involved in this exciting project.

Zoë Conway and John McIntyre's Carlingford Summer Concert Series 2017

Down the years, these have been special and memorable moments as Zoe and John shared their musical mastery and simple charm with a multitude of guest artists, household names in their right, performing classics and new material in the Carlingford Heritage Centre.

The programme for 2017 continues in that rich vein. For the opening concert, John and Zoe’s guest will be Tríona Ni Dhomhnaill who was the voice and ‘the keys’ behind the unforgettable Bothy Band. Tríona was a founder member of ‘the Bothies’ in the 1970s, a band which was destined ‘to revolutionise the playing of traditional music’ in Ireland. Since then, she has worked in the US and Scotland and regularly across Ireland with a range of other musicians and singers.

Over the following four Sundays Zoe and John will host a series of concerts with special guests as follows:

Sunday 6th August – Cork Singer Songwriter - Ger Wolfe

Sunday 13th August – Legendary Guitarist – Steve Cooney

Sunday 20th August – Singer Songwriter and Bouzouki Player and former Planxty member – Andy Irvine

Sunday 27th August – Dublin Singer Songwriter ‘Galileo’ – Declan O’Rourke

All Sunday afternoon concerts commence at 4pm allowing people the freedom to explore the many other attractions in and around Carlingford. Doors open at 3.30pm.
