Warrenpoint from Friday 11th – Sunday 13th August 2017.
The Irish International Currach Championships weekend starts on Friday with our popular “Coaching for Kids”. There are morning and afternoon sessions where we give instruction and coaching to any young people who would like to come along and experience the joys of Currach Rowing. Details and times will be posted nearer the date.
On Saturday 12th we run all the heats in the various categories. This year there are Male & Female singles, Male & Female doubles and & Mixed doubles, Male, Female and Mixed threes.
Saturday evening we get together again for a bit of music and supper in the Lough & Quay.
Sunday 13th is finals day when we run off all the heats and hold the traditional University race with the last race on the day being the International Trophy.
Sunday evening is the Presentation dinner and prizegiving in the Balmoral hotel.
There is a BBQ available for all our visitors on the beach on both Saturday and Sunday and if we finish our heats and finals early we let any interested spectators come out on the water and experience currach rowing. This has become increasingly popular each year.
Registration fee for the event is £25.00 this year. Included in this are all race entries, Competition souvenir T-shirt, BBQ on Fri evening, Sat & Sun beach BBQ, Supper on Saturday evening and presentation dinner on Sunday night.
